Where Each Remedy Shines

Soil Rescue

The topseller and all-around workhorse, the Soil Rescue supports soil that has been heavily disturbed, either by chemical or mechanical impact. Soil Rescue is especially beneficial when repotting or planting, and in high-impact use like market gardens, after overgrazing, ploughing, earthmoving, spraying, during drought or flood recovery, etc. Also beneficial for treating injured trees or after pruning. Use as often as you like. Can also be used as a carrier for the Weed Additives.

Soil Consolidator

Soil Consolidator is designed to support and maintain existing soil biology in soil that needs a boost, or after major damage has been healed with the Soil Rescue. Suitable for all kinds of settings — backyard, grazing, and any broadacre agriculture — supporting fungal, bacterial, and mineral properties. Suitable for frequent use and an ideal carrier for Weed Additives.

Heavy Metal Support

Heavy Metal Support assists soils with heavy metal contamination. It encourages the natural plant succession — the soil’s way of healing itself — and aids recovery from the extremely low vibrational impact of heavy metals. Can be used frequently when contamination is ongoing (e.g. downhill from dairy farms).

Water Protector

Water Protector supports water quality and vibration, especially beneficial when dealing with contaminated water entering from neighbouring properties, roads, or acid rain. It is safe to use in and around waterways, riparian zones, or drainage lines.

Equine Formula

Equine Formula is designed to heal the particular soil issues and plant profiles common on horse properties, including salinity.

Weed Additives

Weed Additives address the particular needs of soil with weed infestations. They can be added to the Soil Consolidator or the Soil Rescue. Currently available are blackberries, ragwort, thistles, capeweed, dock, and cat’s ear. Please do not use the additives alone — they need the Soil Consolidator or the Soil Rescue as a carrier to work properly.

Soil Activator

Soil Activator is made to ‘wake up’ tired, dormant soils — reminding them of what they are capable of. Best used as an ‘introductory’ remedy and followed up by the Soil Consolidator. Beneficial for a one-off, might repeat six months after first application. Not suitable for frequent use.

Dosing and Applications

Homeopathy works in minuscule doses and can be distributed by hand flicking a brush, or over larger areas using spray tanks with a very coarse nozzle (available from Vitec).

Dilute 3 ml (60 drops) of the remedy with water in a bucket, 2 ml (40 drops) in a spray bottle, or 30 ml in a spray tank up to 1000 litres. This is not about maths — it is about energy distribution. Hence, it does not matter if it is a small or a large bucket, or a small or a large spray tank — the dose stays the same. Stir the mix well before application.

For Weed Additives, add 20 drops of the additive into the Soil Rescue or Soil Consolidator mix for a bucket, 15 drops into the spray bottle, and 10 ml into a spray tank up to 1000 litres.

The application rate of the mix is as small as one droplet per square foot. This is easily achieved by using a brush — a toilet brush works great — or a branch to dunk and flick or wave. For spraying with a spray tank, ideally use a coarse nozzle.

Spray bottles are ideal when using Soil Rescue while planting or repotting — just apply several squirts around the roots. Also suitable for treating injured trees, even after pruning — just spray the affected area lightly.

Please use rainwater or tank water, as the chemicals in town water interfere with homeopathic remedies. If rainwater is not available, fill town water into open containers and let it air for at least 24 hours to allow some of the chemicals to dissipate.

Please do not use any tools that have been in contact with chemical fertilisers, herbicides, or pesticides. Avoid contamination of the remedy by touching or dropping the dropper or any implement that gets placed back into the bottle.

Apply twice a year — beginning of spring and autumn — or up to four times a year when the seasons change. Ideally apply early in the morning or late in the afternoon — right before or during a light shower, or when the dew is setting is perfect. Please avoid direct sunshine in the middle of the day, as this will fry even the sturdiest applications.

But — perfection is futile — and a remedy on the shelf is doing nothing. So, do what you can and apply when you have the time to do so. If using Soil Rescue, use as often as you see fit. It can be ongoing in a market garden, for example.

The remedies are entirely safe to use and can be applied in and near waterways, or while animals and people are present. No protective gear is needed, and withholding periods do not apply.

All Soil Remedies can be sprayed out together with natural, organic, or biodynamic fertilisers.

                    For the Biodynamically Inclined

Soil Remedies can be added to any biodynamic preparation or sprayed out on their own. They greatly benefit from running through a free-flow form, vortex stirring, or any other water-energising tool in use.

                                             Storage

Like any other homeopathic remedy, please store your remedies in a cool, dark place at least two metres away from electric appliances — especially microwaves. Keep away from direct sunshine, and please do not store in the fridge.

How to Use Your Remedy

Step 1 - Activation

When I work with soil for the first time I want to ‘wake up’ soil biology and remind it of what it is capable of. I mostly use the Soil Rescue for that. The Soil Activator is also suitable for this step . The Soil Rescue is especially helpful when the soil has been hammered, chemically or otherwise abused, recovering from drought or floods, also when GMO is involved. In short, when I find that the soil needs a ‘cup of coffee’ I use the Activator, when it is in need of a a hug and healing, I use the Soil Rescue.

If in doubt use the Soil Rescue.

Step 2 - Consolidation

With the following application I consolidate the activation of the soil biology using the Soil Consolidator. If the soil is in poor condition I keep using the Soil Healer until I am happy with my soil. If in doubt I just keep using the Soil Healer indefinitely, especially when conditions are challenging like drought, flood or  – not another round of Activator though – one cup of coffee is enough!!

Again, if in doubt keep using the Soil Rescue.

Don't worry!

If all of this seems too complicated or you don’t have time to get into the nitty-gritty of things – don’t worry. Just use the Soil Rescue with its fabulous healing properties.

What are the Additives for?

If your property, or parts of, is overrun by one particular weed you can add the appropriate Additive to the Soil Consolidator or to the Soil Rescue. The Additives don’t stand alone, they need the properties of the carriers to do their work. The additives are not weedkillers!! They are designed to heal the underlying soil condition that makes it necessary for this specific weed to grow.

However, less is more. One or two additives per area are enough. Let’s not overpower our precious soil biology, however well intentioned.

For Equine Properties

When I work with equine facilities I also activate the soil either with the Soil Activator or the Soil Rescue, depending on the soil condition (Step 1). Then I will consolidate with the Equine Formula. (Step 2). Please don’t use any additives, the Equine Formula is quite complex and designed to heal the most common soil issues including weeds especially found on horse properties.

Heavy Metal Contamination

Heavy Metal Contamination is found frequently on current or former dairy farms or downhill from them. Also water run-off from roads carry heavy metals into our properties. Due to the particular make up of the contamination a wake-up is not needed.

Gardening - including Market Gardens

For gardening the Soil Rescue is the go-to remedy. In my veggie garden I use the Soil Rescue whenever I plant new seedlings, spraying the root balls lightly or dunking the punnets into a tub of the Soil Rescue mix. When spreading compost or worm castings I spray the area sparingly for support. I also use the Soil Rescue for any tree injuries and after pruning by just spraying the effected area sparingly.

Water Protector

I always protect my property from water runoff from neighbouring properties, roads etc. by spreading Water Protector generously around the point of entry and along the drainage lines.

The Power of Intent

Our attitude while we are treating soil has an impact on the outcome. This might sound strange to some, but the research of Dr Masaru Emoto and his colleagues has clearly demonstrated that thought has an effect on the molecular structure of water. He explains and demonstrates this with amazing photographs in his book The Hidden Messages of Water.

Quantum physics — and my science crush Albert Einstein — take the same approach: the sheer act of observation is changing the structure and behaviour of what is observed (Double-Slit-Experiment). Simply put — when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Anyone who is biodynamically inclined will have heard about Rudolf Steiner’s journey into the power of thought on matter — and ultimately on soil.

What does that mean in practical terms for us? Basically: being present with our soil and the intended outcome when we spray our remedies — and any other input for that matter — improves their effect. Gratitude and appreciation do change structures on a molecular level. This is a very interesting subject to look into.

Just give it a try. Nothing is lost by feeling grateful for the Land that provides for us. One of my favourite rabbit holes.
